Our Story

The HB Williams Memorial library building is a classic example of 1960s architecture and has adapted well to the advent of the information technology.

Stained Glass Window

Unveiled in 1993, the window measures 39.5 square metres, completely covering the southwest end of the building.

Fine Free Tairāwhiti

Fine Free Tairāwhiti

Gisborne District Council abolished fines for the late return of library materials in 2022. Library fines had undermined one of the core principles of public libraries - the provision of free and universal access to information.
