COVID-19 Protection Framework
From Tuesday 19 April 2022, under COVID-19 Protection Framework Traffic Light System ORANGE, there will be fewer restrictions on library services.
Entering the library:
- Face Mask on
Once you are in the library:
- Be kind.
- Use hand sanitiser.
- Keep your mask on at all times.
- No food or drinks may be consumed in the library.
- Please do not leave children unattended.
Things to note:
- Both the Bright Street and Peel Street entrances are open
Library Services
- Contactless library services are available; our collections can be searched at www.gpl.govt.nz, and titles may be requested for contactless collection (Click and Collect)
- Newspapers and reference services are available in the Research area on level 1 (upstairs)
- Two self-issue kiosks, located at both ends of the library, are available to issue and renew books
- Grab a Bag with a selection of books chosen by a librarian are available (don’t forget to issue the books at a kiosk or at Pukarau)
- Meeting/study rooms are available for booking
- Face-to-face programmes for under-fives and Rangatahi | Teens are available, check our Calendar for details
- Justice of the Peace services are available; you may also contact a JP directly using justiceofthepeace.org.nz
- Signing up for membership; this process can be started at home at gpl.govt.nz
Returning books:
- Return books at the Smart Shelf within the Library, or
- Use the return slot in the Bright Street car park which is available 24 hours.
From home:
- If you have any questions or would like to renew a book, please contact us and one of our librarians will be happy to help.
- You may Book a Librarian to help with library services, either in person at the library or virtually.
- Don’t forget our e-library for eBooks and eAudiobooks and other online resources.
